The National Science Foundation’s (NSF) Research Infrastructure Office (RIO) will host the 2024 Research Infrastructure Workshop from March 26 – 29, 2024, in Tucson, Arizona. Co-hosted by NOIRLab, this hybrid workshop will offer in-person and virtual attendance options. In-person attendees have the option to attend tours of local scientific facilities.
Registration for the workshop will open on January 17, 2024 at 12pm EST.
The Research Infrastructure Workshop is designed to provide a collaborative forum for the research infrastructure community to share best practices and lessons learned, collect community input on new initiatives, and share project, operations and business tools and techniques.

Who would benefit from attending? This workshop is designed for all research infrastructure professionals including Facility and Operations Managers, Program and Project Managers, and other business and operations professionals involved with managing and overseeing Major Facilities and Mid-Scale research infrastructure. We also welcome attendance and participation from other federal agencies.
Registration Fees
In-Person: The fee to attend the in-person workshop for all four days is $825. This fee includes breakfast, lunch, regular refreshments, a tour (including transportation), a stargazing evening, and attendance at the workshop reception.
In-Person, Limited Attendance: For this year’s event, attendees who are only able to attend in-person for one or two days will have the option to participate for a fee of $225 or $450, respectively. A limited attendance ticket will include virtual access to the workshop for the remaining days.
Virtual: The virtual event registration fee is $35, which covers a portion of the technology expenses for remote participation.
Program content for this year’s workshop will include topics on: Facility Management including Facility Condition Assessment, Project Management (with some PDU offerings), Operations Management, Facility and Workplace Safety, Award Management, and Education and Public Outreach.
