The U.S. National Science Foundation’s (NSF) Research Infrastructure Office (RIO) will host the 2025 Safety Officer Workshop on January 14 – 15, 2025, at LIGO Livingston Observatory in Livingston, LA.
NSF RIO invites facility safety officers and safety professionals in the RI Community to participate in a two-day knowledge-sharing forum to discuss experienced challenges and lessons learned. The program also includes a facility tour of the co-host facility, LIGO. Virtual attendance will be offered. This workshop is being offered by invitation only.
In-Person: The fee to attend the workshop in person is $150. Registration includes breakfast, lunch, and refreshments.
Virtual: NSF RIO is delighted to offer a virtual attendance option for those unable to join us in person. There is no fee for virtual event registration. The workshop will be streamed via Zoom.

- The Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport (BTR) is the closest airport to the workshop. It is approximately 10 miles from the Baton Rouge Marriott and about 40 miles from LIGO in Livingston, LA.
- The Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (MSY), in Kenner, LA is about 65 miles from the Baton Rouge Marriott and about 70 miles from LIGO Livingston.
Car Rentals & Ride sharing:Â Â
- Car rentals, taxis, and ridesharing services are readily available at both the Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport and Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport. All options provide a convenient and direct way to Baton Rouge and Livingston.
Workshop Transportation:
- Transportation will not be provided for the workshop. Attendees are responsible for transportation to and from LIGO. The typical drive time from the Baton Rouge Marriott to LIGO is approximately 35-minutes.
