The U.S. National Science Foundation’s (NSF) Research Infrastructure Office (RIO) will host the 2025 Safety Officer Workshop on January 14 – 15, 2025, at LIGO Livingston Observatory in Livingston, LA.

NSF RIO invites facility safety officers and safety professionals in the RI Community to participate in a two-day knowledge-sharing forum to discuss experienced challenges and lessons learned. The program also includes a facility tour of the co-host facility, LIGO. Virtual attendance will be offered. This workshop is being offered by invitation only.

Registration

In-Person: The fee to attend the workshop in person is $150. Registration includes breakfast, lunch, and refreshments.

Virtual: NSF RIO is delighted to offer a virtual attendance option for those unable to join us in person. There is no fee for virtual event registration. The workshop will be streamed via Zoom.

Virtual attendees will be able to view workshop sessions directly on this page. Additional instructions will be provided closer to the workshop dates.

Poster Session

In-person attendees at the workshop will have an opportunity to present a poster. More information will be available soon. In the meantime, check out our Poster Resource webpage from the 2024 Research Infrastructure Workshop.

A block of rooms has been reserved at the Baton Rouge Marriott for $107 per night for a standard room. A link to directly book a room as part of the group block will be provided when registration opens on Wednesday, October 30.

Attendees are encouraged to make hotel reservations immediately after receiving their registration confirmation, as a limited number of rooms are available. Please also consider that room reservations must be made no later than Thursday, December 19, to receive the group rate.

LIGO is located approximately 31 miles from the Baton Rouge Marriott and has a 35-minute drive time. Attendees will be responsible for their transportation to and from LIGO.

Car Rentals & Ride sharing:  

  • Car rentals, taxis, and ridesharing services are readily available at both the Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport and Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport. All options provide a convenient and direct way to Baton Rouge and Livingston.

Workshop Transportation:

  • Transportation will not be provided for the workshop. Attendees are responsible for transportation to and from LIGO. The typical drive time from the Baton Rouge Marriott to LIGO is approximately 35-minutes.
