The U.S. National Science Foundation’s (NSF) Research Infrastructure Office (RIO) will host the 2024 Research Infrastructure Workshop from March 26 – 29, 2024, in Tucson, AZ.

Attendees have the option to attend the workshop, co-hosted by NSF’s NOIRLab and the University of Arizona’s Biosphere 2 and its Richard F. Caris Mirror Lab Facility, in-person or virtually. Those joining us in person have the option to attend tours of local scientific facilities.

Registration is closed.

The Research Infrastructure Workshop is a collaborative forum for all the U.S. National Science Foundation’s Research Infrastructure Projects. We strive to support NSF’s mission and promote the scientific endeavor with the following desired outcomes:

  • Provide a forum to collect and exchange best practices and lessons learned that elevate the shared knowledge base
  • Discuss new initiatives and collect community input
  • Demonstrate project management, operations, and business-related tools and techniques
  • Expand our community of practice by connecting colleagues across disciplines and organizations to promote collaboration between facilities

Registration Fees

In-Person: The fee to attend the in-person workshop for all four days is $825. This fee includes breakfast, lunch, and regular refreshments each day. Registration also includes a tour with transportation, a stargazing evening, and attendance at the workshop reception. It also helps cover the cost of audiovisual equipment rentals for the event. In-person speakers will be offered a small reduction in their registration fee.

In-Person, Limited Attendance: Attendees who can only join in-person for one or two days have the option to participate for a fee of $225 or $450, respectively. During the registration process, you will be prompted to indicate which days you plan to attend. A limited attendance ticket includes virtual access to the workshop for the remaining days.

Virtual: The virtual event registration fee is $35, which helps cover a portion of the technology expenses for remote participation. Speakers presenting virtually are exempt from this fee, while virtual scribes are eligible for a 50% discount.
