The 2019 Large Facilities Workshop

The 2019 Large Facilities Workshop took place at the University of Texas, Austin’s Texas Advanced Computing Center (TACC) in Austin, Texas on April 2-4, 2019. It was hosted jointly by TACC and the Natural Hazards Engineering Research Infrastructure (NHERI).

The workshop is a collaborative forum for the National Science Foundation’s (NSF) Large Facilities and other complex scientific facilities and organizations. Desired outcomes to support NSF’s mission and promote the scientific endeavor included:

• Share knowledge to promote good practices and address common challenges.
• Discuss new initiatives and collect community input.
• Demonstrate project management, operations and maintenance, and business-related tools and techniques.
• Expand our community of practice by connecting colleagues across disciplines and organizations.
